Last time: ‘73 Citrus, Ruby Red Grapefruit, this time: Foxton Fizz, Kola.

250mL glass bottle, from New World, and also available online direct.

This is a classic cola taste, and an enjoyable one. It’s not trying to be a craft-cola reinvention with botanicals and a story on the label; it’s just cola, done in the classic way, in the Foxton style.

I would take Coke over this any day - that’s not really a contest - but I would have this over the other classic colas without hesitating. It does feel slightly SodaStream-esque, which I don’t entirely mean as a criticism: there’s something a bit home-made about the sweetness and the fizz that fits the bottle it comes in.

The one thing that nags at me is the “k”. Kola. I know it’s an old-fashioned spelling and probably older than the one I’m used to, but every time I look at the label I want to correct it, and that’s a slightly strange thing to be doing to a drink I like.

7.4/10.
